About Viseu

Viseu is a Portuguese city belonging to the Center region, being the second largest city in central Portugal, after Coimbra.

It is soothing of a county with 507,10 km² of area and 99 274 inhabitants (2011), divided in 25 parishes. In addition to the seat of district and county, Viseu is also the seat of diocese and district.

According to an opinion poll organized by DECO of 2007 on quality of life, Viseu is the 17th. European city with the highest quality of life among the 76 of the study, being also the first of the 18 Portuguese capital cities with better quality of life. In 2012, once again, it was considered the Portuguese city with a better quality of life. By 2021, “Viseu, Family Friendly Destination”.

PORTO – VISEU DIRECTION

  • From Porto follow the A1 motorway to Lisbon, follow the A1 and A25 to the IP5 in Viseu. Take exit 16 on the A25, take exit 16 towards Viseu Norte, take the A24 to Viseu. Exit at A24. Already in Viseu follow the indications for the Piaget Institute of Viseu.
  • Distance: 130 kms
  • Average Time: 1 hora e 30 minutos

LISBON – VISEU DIRECTION

  • From Lisbon follow the A1 motorway towards Porto, take exit 13 to converge with E801 / IP3 towards Viseu / Coimbra, follow the A24 to Viseu. Exit at A24. Already in Viseu follow the indications for the Piaget Institute of Viseu.
  • Distance:  320 kms
  • Average Time: 3 horas

By Bus

PORTO – VISEU DIRECTION

From Expressos central in Porto, you can take a bus to Viseu. The average price of the bus ticket per person is around 10 Euros. In Viseu you can take a taxi or bus, with direct destination to the Piaget Institute of Viseu.

LISBON – VISEU DIRECTION

From the express station in Sete Rios Lisboa, you can take an express with direct destination to the bus station in Viseu. The average price of the ticket should be around 20 Euros per person. In Viseu you can take a taxi or bus, with direct destination to the Piaget Institute of Viseu.

By TRAIN

PORTO – VISEU DIRECTION

At Campanhã Porto station, you can take a train to Mangualde station. The average price of the ticket should be around 20 Euros per person. On the CP website, place in the Source search box (Porto – Campanhã), and as Destination (Mangualde). See here for more details.

In Mangualde you can take a taxi, with a direct destination to the Piaget Institute of Viseu (+ 30 kms and the average price of the trip should be around 30 Euros).

LISBON – VISEU DIRECTION
